Welcome to MEF!
The Music Education Foundation (MEF) was founded in the mid-1980s to support and enhance all District 41 music programs including chorus, orchestra, band and school musicals. MEF has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of these outstanding programs and has assisted our distinguished staff in helping our children make music a lifelong love.
Meetings are held monthly at Hadley Junior High, and are open to the D-41 public. Interested residents are welcome to attend these meetings along with MEF Board members and the district band, orchestra and choral music teachers. See "About Us" for more info
Orchestra 2008-2009
The 2008-09 Hadley Strings Orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Georgia Alemis
Congratulations to the Hadley String Orchestra for an outstanding performance at the Illinois Grade School Music Association Organization State Contest on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Franklin Middle School in Wheaton, Illinois. The judges were very impressed with the advanced literature and the performance sound of our Hadley String Orchestra. The Hadley String Orchestra, under the direction of Ms. Georgia Alemis, was the only orchestra selected in the state of Illinois to receive the Honor Status for 2009. The Honor Status is the highest honor a junior high orchestra could receive in the state. Congratulations Hadley String Orchestra members!
IGSMA conducts an annual competition in which school orchestras receive a division rating based on comments from three judges. The judges place a score for each performance and in addition, the three judges can choose an outstanding performing ensemble and grant an orchestra the "honor" status. Up to three ensembles can be chosen from each of the state contest sites.
Since 2003 the Hadley orchestra has been awarded the Honor status every year for their outstanding performances.

On behalf of the Music Education Foundation (MEF), we would like to say thank you very much to all those who volunteered their time to help out at Musical Mayhem. We had a most successful evening with great attendance!
We appreciate all the hard work and time donated by so many volunteers.
We hope everyone enjoyed the lip sync acts, played tons of games, won lots of raffle prizes, ate up cake donations, and generally had fun! All of this made for a successful Mayhem. We couldn't have success or fun without you!
The proceeds from the event provide summer camp scholarships, instrument rental for those in financial need, directors awards, various instruments, costumes, or other items needed by the music teachers to enrich their programs. Thank you for partnering with MEF and supporting music in D-41.
Finally, a huge thank you to our Muscial Mayhem co-chairs Mary Nannenhorn and Eveyln Cabrera. Their tireless efforts in organizing this event are appreciated by all!
Sincerely,
Carole Tobin
MEF President
P.S. Remember to save the date for next year Friday, February 19th!
All profits from this fun night of fundraising help supplement the District 41 music programs and directly benefit our children!
